Quirky bookish people, unite!
Tired of big business? Love books, old movies, and/or horrible gag gifts? You're in the right place.
Established in October of 2021, Keaton & Lloyd is the only (non-children's) independent bookstore in Oneida County. Having grown tired of the area's rampant homogeny, founder Julie Whittemore incorporated the only cinema-oriented, racially/gender-inclusive, Jewish bookstore this side of Wampsville.
K&L was founded out of a passion for books, cinema, and the local community. We aim to present some of the finest literary works ever created on the planet, along with some not-so-fine literary works. We're enthusiastic about supporting organizations that benefit Central New York, along with anything dealing with film of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
It's our goal to offer new treasures each time you visit, so come and see us today (and tomorrow, and next week).
Keaton & Lloyd's selection of stocked books represents a nice balance between what our community desires as readers and what we just love to do! You won't find a whole lot of James Patterson or Danielle Steel here. What you will find are unique options and growing representation for groups that are often marginalized.
Among our most popular options are classics from the 18th-20th centuries (such as Hemingway, Poe, and Vonnegut). We are also proud to offer an incredible selection of Golden Age detective crime from writers such as Earl Derr Biggers, Wilkie Collins, and Stuart Palmer.
Of course, we also carry many trending titles, with books that inspired the latest Netflix hits and which have mesmerized BookTok enthusiasts.
But wait! There's more! Be sure to visit our many other sections, including:
Science and Animals
Horror, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy
Philosophy and Religion
Business and Economics
